Cajun's blue boot got left on a little too long and he has a bit of thrush. Thrush is a fungal disease causes by a bacteria falling in love with the moisture trapped on the horse's hoof. We treated it with some purple stuff that dyed the hoof, half of his leg, and half of Marsha. The boy needs to understand we can't go play unless he is well. Besides the foot treatment, I just brought him down to the round pen and he rolled and rolled. I tried to lunge but he won't lunge at all. He just wants to follow me around. I am going to need to do a bit of research, because this behavior baffles me. Then I gave him a good brushing and rubbed his leg a bit.
Aislin lead Prinz to the round pen and successfully steered him away from the grass. I lunged him for a bit and then had Aislin join me for a mini lesson on lunging. I was curious to see if Prinz would obey her commands. He listens to her really well on lead, but it's a whole different animal when they are free in the pen. He didn't listen. Either Aislin or Prinz didn't believe it. I am not sure which one it is. Either Prinz looked at her and thought, "You are joking right?" or Aislin looked at Prinz and thought, "Not gonna happen." So I put him back on the lead and she practiced walking and stopping. I had a proud mamma moment when she was in between Prinz and the fence. He was edging closer and closer to the fence, starting to squish her. I heard her say to herself, "Aislin, now don't panic, just go in a circle." And then she turned away from the fence, moved him in a circle and lined him back up along the fence at a safer distance. Being the nerd that I am, I nearly cried. My baby girl is learnin'!
